City Cafe in Fredericksburg

Very pretty. It is a very pretty town and makes for a great get away.

Had the grilled chicken and it was great.

Food was good, service was very slow, took us 40 min to get food, but it was busy. I recommend getting a biscuit, they cut them in half and grill them, very good.

Friendly staff, delicious eggs, potatoes, and bacon. The hot sauce was made perfectly and tasted fresh. (i had a burrito and husband had huevos rancheros)

The wait and service was excellent! The food and cleanliness was not...I ordered a ham and cheese omelette and it was overcooked. It came with browned egg crust all over it. My friend ordered the BLT and it was impressive with the mountain high of bacon piled on it, but the bacon tasted overcooked and old tasting(rancid). All of our utensils(prewrapped in napkins) were sticky and dirty.

Points for decent fast hot food at a decent price. Found some things lacking though. If you're looking for fine dining or a great atmosphere look elsewhere but for a quick coffee and taco I'd go back .

Quaint and cute! Super fast service and DELICIOUS food. Good portions asst a very reasonable price.

This place is amazing! Great food, I had a pancake sandwich and Wife had a chicken fried steak. They were both wonderful. Good value! You can easily split. We travel to San Antonio often and can't wait to eat here. Don't miss this!

Happened upon this place accidentally, and so glad we did. Old, quaint house converted into small cafe. The food was tasty and fresh, with helpful waitstaff. Would like to do lunch, but too full from breakfast.

Classic diner food perfected. Very cozy classic diner experience. Friendly staff. Quick service. Delicious BLT with fried egg inside. Will recommend to anyone wanting to avoid the crowded lines closer to Main St.

Had meatloaf for lunch. Real good and gave you plenty.

As much as I wanted to love this place, we had some issues. First of all, there were a lot of flies inside. It seemed very stuffy as well.Secondly, there was a hair in one of the dishes.But, what I loved about this place is the staff. They certainly were doing their best to try and accommodate every customer. Our waitress was very friendly and seemed to care about the service and the food. In the end, she took care of the dish and brought us a new one. I would definitely come back and try this place out again because it seemed like it used to be a great family owned diner. I also enjoyed my egg and brisket burrito.

This is one of my favorite places for breakfast in Fredericksburg. I would definitely recommend for some home style breakfast cooking!

Really enjoyed our breakfast at City Cafe. Quaint old home setting. Our waitress was great. Breakfast was wonderful...eggs, potatoes, biscuit and the crispiest bacon I think I've ever had. Just like I like it.

This is my absolute favorite place for breakfast in Fredericksburg. If memory serves me right there are only lady servers - friendly and welcoming. I don't experiment a lot in what I eat but my food is always spot-on.

We only had eggs and bacon. The eggs were fine but we asked for crispy bacon and they brought out bacon that was reheated and not fresh with a texture more like jerky. To bad because the reviews had been so good.

Great large breakfast, brunch servings (crab cakes were small though). The food is not fancy, but the chicken fried steak was spot on and the migas breakfast burrito would keep me coming back

Good food, homey but cleanliness.. needs work. Our glasses were absolutely filthy particularly at the top at the rim. Waitress didn't think there's anything wrong with these.. you be the judge.

Stopped by for a lunch. Had the Ruben and wife had a hamburger. Both were served quickly and were hot and tasty. The staff was friendly. The decor was quaint and clean. They are open for breakfast (which you can get all day) and lunch. Would eat there again.

Although the place was packed when we arrived the food came out relatively quick. Nothing fancy on the plate presentation but the taste was definitely good. The staff was very attentive and courteus. Emirza and I will come back next time we visit this cool little town of Fredericksburg!!!

I only wish I had a photograph as proof but I felt it was disrespectful. My husband and I ordered the chicken fried steak and short stack pancakes. I thoroughly enjoyed and rye toast and over easy eggs until I look up at the sight of my husband's plate. He had steal wool in his pancake! I let the waitstaff know, they only removed the order form the ticket and offered a new short stack. Rushed orders lead to a soggy uncooked second plate. We actually had to pay for our crummy food. Sadly this was one of the only places to eat in town at the hour. Do not go if you are looking for a good meal with a great staff.

Great service and awesome food! Down to earth friendly atmosphere. My husband and enjoyed our breakfast here on Sunday and we couldn't ask for anything more. We will be back on our next visit. I had the pancake breakfast and my husband had the country fried steak breakfast. Perfect.

Nice old-time cafe atmosphere. Good lunchtime food.Came here for lunch with a friend after numerous recommendations. The City Cafe features an old-style, low-key decor and super friendly/welcoming staff. Service is attentive and personal, so full marks on that front.Where the food is concerned, the Chicken-Fried Steak is excellent, possibly one of the best I've had in this town. The fries are superior, and the green beans fresh and exceedingly well prepared. Unfortunately the entire thing was brought down by cream gravy which was not only bland, but quite obviously out-of-a-packet. It's a shame, because other than that it was pretty much perfect.Nevertheless, it's still a solid four stars...

Stopped in for a late breakfast after being at the deer lease all weekend... did not disappoint! The CFS was seasoned perfectly! Biscuits were fluffy & delicious & the home fries had the perfect crust. Coffee was strong & smooth, even the iced tea was great!
